After the 4th of July Festivities, this little family joined the big Snow family for some family reunion fun by Zion’s National Park. The whole Snow clan stayed in this beautiful cabin. The festivities included Bunco, an Amazing Race, movies in the theater room, eating lots of good food, indexing, playing with a sugar glider (pet), an IMAX movie at Zions, and some hiking.
At Zion’s we maneuvered about 35 of the family members onto the shuttle and rode out to the furthest hiking stop. We went on a nice little hike that ended at a stream where we ate lunch and went walking in the water. On the way to the IMAX theater, Andrew and I took 7 of the younger cousins off the shuttle and ran up to the Weeping Rocks. As we were riding back to join the family, a lady from California said that she had seen shirts like ours all over the park and was wondering if we were with a youth group of sorts. She was very surprised to find out that we were actually all related. I was also very proud that Andrew was the designer of the shirts :)
The weekend after the family reunion, my brother Derick came into town! While he was here we joined our aunt and uncle’s friends at family at their home for a Middle Eastern Dinner Night, complete with falafel. On Monday we were able to spend some more time with them and play some frisbee. Derick taught the cousins some of his frisbee tricks. I took the opportunity to take some pictures.
On Tuesday, Pioneer Day, Andrew, Derick, and I went to hike the Y. Derick had never done such a Provo activity before and we wanted to make sure he had the opportunity. When we arrived the parking lot was blocked off by the police. We parked and walked up to the trail head where we found two fire trucks, an ambulance, and four more police cars. A little girl had fallen down the trail and they closed the trail so an emergency crew could bring her down. We walked down another trail for awhile until they brought her down.
We started up once the trail was opened and had a great time making it to the top.
After the hike we topped off Derick’s Provo experience with some JDawgs.
After he left on Tuesday, Andrew and I put three very full days of work to get in as many hours as we could. Friday we watched the Opening Ceremonies! I LOVE the Olympics. We have a projector set up on the whiteboard in our office streaming the events while we work all day. Summer at IT Training is the BEST!!! When the projector isn’t being used for the Olympics, the guys are using it to play Mario Smash Brothers, or something similar to that.
This last Saturday was a day of marathon plays for Andrew and I. We started at 11am at the Deseret Star Theater watching “The Adams Family Home Evening” with Andrews sister and brother-in-law. I’ve never seen Andrew laugh so hard! At 7pm we saw Cinderella with Andrews parents, sisters, and two cousins. In the play was Andrew’s Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. It was really fun to watch!
Well that is a snapshot of our busy lives. More to come!
